Barrel Cat is a game development company located in the Bay Area specializing in mobile game development for smartphone devices.
Barrel Cat Productions was initially founded with prospects of becoming an animation production house working in advertisement, film and video games. The two original co-founders started the company right out of college, both having backgrounds in film and music.
It was shortly after that Barrel Cat delved into its first project and started production for a mobile app advertisement, beginning to involve itself more and more into the app development market. During the 2012 fiscal year the company restructured itself completely and began focusing solely on developing for iOS and Android continuing to focus on what it does best, which is art asset production.
Currently, the company is building a one of a kind location based tradable card game with an expected release in Q2 of 2013. Ethereal plans to bring forth some of the most popular elements that have brought the genre’s popularity to its all-time high in 2012 and move it forward into a mobile and dynamic world of augmented reality and real life exploration. With a very dedicated team on-board and completely bootstrapped Barrel Cat has managed to push forward for the last 8 months and move towards an expected beta release at the end of April, 2013.
With the ability of being part of the UC Hastings Law Start-up Clinic as well as having the opportunity of working from the Yetizen Innovation Lab in San Francisco Barrel Cat has grown to become an extremely stable company, operating at an extremely efficient rate from both its business and legal side. The co-founders remain open to the idea of a seed investment or Series A if such an opportunity does present itself to be beneficial for the long term growth of the company.
