The first edition from this year of VentureConnect series of events (held on 28 of May) 12 entrepreneurs showed their projects for over 30 investors from Romania and Southeast Europe looking forward to engage their interest and financial resources in the development of their enterprises. VentureConnect teamed up with the Romanian financial newspaper Ziarul Financiar in an effort to find investors and potential partners who were willing to support the entrepreneurial community.

The event took place in an exciting new location, “Grand Cinema Digiplex”, inside Bucharest’s Baneasa Shopping City. This year’s edition of VentureConnect (the 7th) was very original, since it was the first time the event was divided into two sections, one dedicated to mature companies in need of more substantial capital, and another dedicated to early stage companies looking for a breakthrough. During the event, and after careful consideration, 12 Startups were selected from 50 other projects from Romania, Germany and Bulgaria. The finalists had to showcase their projects in a limited time frame of about six minutes, and had to handle a five minutes Q&A session professionally.

Among the special guests attending this year’s event we have to mention Nils Granath (Cartagena Capital), Barry Kolodkin (Black Sea Trade Investment Promotion Program), Orlando Szasz (Renania), Ciprian Ghetau (Black Sea Capital), and Numan Numan (212LTD). Of course, they were joined by other important investors and businessmen from Southeast Europe.

Up to the present date, six sessions of VentureConnect were organized and two important Startups were set off, namely tjobs.ro (online recruitment platform) and bitnetsystems.ro (network training). Now it’s time to assess which of these 12 Startups holds the specific credentials to have an extensive impact on the market.

Smartdreamers.com – this is an online platform that connects young talents with the latest modern tools in order to provide companies with a fast on demand workforce system.
Bookster.ro – the project aims to be the first modern library to offer personalized reading recommendations to users from experts and academics. Bookster intends to achieve as much fame on books as did “IMDb” on movies.
Cars Cup – the first social game built for men, since users can join car clubs along with friends, and also upgrade the virtual version of their real car and race in tournaments.
ProEconomica – an online economic simulator that offers you the possibility to open your own virtual business, while accumulating real experience in exchange. With this simulator, you can develop your own county or city and learn interesting facts about economy.
Traderion – an online virtual reality game simulating the international inter bank markets. The project’s leading phrase, which also describes it best, is: ”It’s the game that you can put on your resume.”
Synappsio – is a powerful platform that helps you create native mobile apps for online stores. The path is to create your store, code your app using SynML, test your app in Synappsio, publish your app in AppStore, get customers and orders. It’s as simple as that.
Render Street – is a next-gen render farm for 3D projects that targets post production companies , media studios, small architecture firms and also independent artist in need of affordable 3D rendering.
SkillBarn – represents an online system that helps companies find IT professionals faster.
