Cluj-Business-Days-event-logoDuring September 25th-26th, the 12th edition of the series of Business Days events will be held in Cluj, aiming, as indicated in their motto, at providing “inspiration, experience and opportunities for the people who want to generate value in Romania”.

Cluj Business Days (check out the website), the third event in a series of four planned for this year, will be hosted by Grand Hotel Italia.
The business community from Cluj (that includes tech business community) and from the whole central area of the country will have the opportunity to connect to the latest concerns and solutions related to business success, together with 60 top speakers of our country (entrepreneurs, managers of leading companies, investors, experts in various fields). The discussions, grouped under the general theme “Successful Entrepreneurship and Management”, will be occasioned by the 16 workshops, 4 conferences, 4 round tables and 3 business networking sessions during the two-day event.

At the Cluj Napoca edition, our concern to support the development of start-ups in Romania takes new values. We have created new opportunities in order to help the entrepreneurs who are at the beginning of the road. The actions conceived in this respect are focused on three directions: testing the business idea, product or service, taking advantage of the presence and feedback of the audience, of 20 minutes meetings with investors and mentors attending the event and the business promotion through 3 minutes presentations in front of participating entrepreneurs and managers, “says Laszlo Pacso, the project coordinator.

innovation-labs-demo-day-bucharest11 teams, 50 students and 3 months of hard work, these are the numbers for Innovation Labs, a joint project of TechLounge and TechSoup Romania developed with the support of Microsoft Romania. For the first time, Innovation Labs tries to bring the entrepreneurial culture into Romanian universities.

The project started in “Politehnica” University from Bucharest with the Innovation Labs Hackathon. The event gathered over 100 students, and after 24 hours of intense work 12 ideas developed into viable projects. After establishing the teams, the students who remained in the competition became part of weekly public talks, one-on-one sessions of mentoring and pitching sessions.

Three months later the “exam” was held at TechHub Bucharest, and Innovation Labs Demo Day chose its finalists. Their task was to skillfully present their projects in front of their mentors, potential investors and friends.

The jury members were the following: Todi Pruteanu (Microsoft Romania), Teodor Ceausu (IXIA), Radu Georgescu (Gecad Group), Alex Marinescu ( EA ), Daniel Dragomir (TechHub ), Raluca Georgescu (Allegro Group ), Diana Olar ( Voucherry ), Daniel Enache – ( Media IQ ) and Gabriel Iovu ( Top HoReCa ) – they had to decide which of projects worth the first place.

See the winners.

What is Eventya?
Eventya is a set of cloud tools for creating and sharing events. The content growing is natural: it is made by the events places managers. The Content distribution is viral: embedded scripts, widgets, RSS feeds, Restful APIs, all of this to give one-click opportunity to place an event or list of events in any website, social network or mobile app.
What problem Eventya solves?
There’s a lot of friction for event managers/promoters who are seeking to make their events known in all the online channels where they attenders/customers are: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Official Website, partners websites, friends websites, blogs, news websites, digital signage channels and a bunch of mobile apps dedicated to events and places in urban areas.
Who’s using it?
As an event/place manager you use Eventya to create/edit/update your event and take advantage of several distribution tools that Eventya’s is offering out of the box to you. As an online business that publishes events into a website, mobile app or digital signage solutions you’ll use Eventya to get streams of content based on geolocation, areas of interest or type of events. Or even get an developer account and built apps with Eventya’s content and features.

I’ve been interested in programming and building stuff since an early age. I enjoy product design and positive feedback.
Over time I’ve co-founded, among other things, Enzi, a web app that provides groups for students, and, recently, Quizens, a mobile geolocation trivia game.

startup live bucharest-logoFor those of you who don’t know, Startup Live is an international concept that tries to reunite young people passionate about entrepreneurship, technology and innovation with investors, mentors and business angels. This event is hosted by a significant number of countries and it’s supported by high-ranking international partners like STARTeurope and Konica Minolta.

The first edition of Startup Live Bucharest took place in October 2012 and brought together more than 70 entrepreneurs and over 15 mentors from different areas of expertise who shared their knowledge and provided feedback. The second edition is going to take place between 7-9 June 2013 at TechHub Bucharest, and it aims to attract even more participants from many diverse fields such as web design, business journalism, mobile development, business environment and, of course, entrepreneurship.

The goal of the meeting is to help young entrepreneurs find new opportunities to expand their projects while connecting with investors or mentors.
The format of the event will follow the usual pattern “pitch idea – team building – work on Startup – get feedback – present Startup”. There will also be workshop sessions were participants can develop their communication skills and learn strategies on how to manage a conversation with a potential investor, or how to pitch their Startup professionally.
