The customer experience match is part of our culture and this makes us very proud of what we do. We care about our clients, so we consider that clear business specs and requirements can only build long term partnerships.

The commitment to our clients is crucial for our business and their constant feedback helps us building great products which meet their needs. Hence, while our coders do what they know best, we start delivering small iterated chunks of working software.

Once the hard work is done, we make sure that the product meets the clients’ acceptance criterias then the final thing is delivered and launched.

3angleTech has a customer-spirit oriented culture which motivates us to become better each day at what we do. So, you will get the chance to work with some super coding addicted ninjas who put hard effort in delivering a great customer experience to you.

This is a guest post on Adelina Peltea blog by Andreea Paraschiv, a passionate tech marketer who worked with startups and corporations like Intel, Microsoft, Kingston, VmWare, Maguay, CyberGhost and more.

Crowdfunding is a good way to test the demand for new products for early-stage start-ups. Based on our latest experience, we can say that crowdfunding works even better when you’re an established startup, and want to build a new product.

As Forbes put it, $95 billion – that’s the total amount crowdfunding is expected to reach this year.

With over 3.7M users, CyberGhost (the startup I am talking about, which is also profiled on RomanianStartups.com) – the “Privacy as a Service” company where I work, launched on 4th of September a call-to-action to its community to get their attention in building the first #NoSpyProxy. The #NoSpyproxy is a safe datacenter for Cyberghost’s users, located in the company’s headquarter in Romania, which will offer them an improved level of security and privacy.

Security is an industry where you need to be fast and continuously innovate, in order to stay ahead of spies, threats and competition. We really wanted to have our own #NoSpyProxy datacenter, in order to have 100% control over our hardware and offer our clients the very best. This was the boldest idea we’ve had so far and this is why we wanted to build it with the help of our community.

We chose to do crowdfunding, so we can test if there is actual demand and interest for such service. We needed €100,000 to build our #NoSpyProxy. And while the campaign will still run for 30 more days, we have already over achieved our target by 46%!

How we did it

As CyberGhost has 2 main important communities (English and German), we’ve split our campaign… into 2 campaigns:

A campaign for the English market aiming to raise $70,000
A campaign for the German market aiming to raise €50,000

We’ve worked 3 months on this campaign. We had a complex story to tell, and we tried to find the right balance between a technical story (for techies) and an emotional story (for security passionate people, but with no technical background).

Having a well-established community helped us because we had very positive feedback (and donations) from the very first hours of the campaign.

viLive creates amazing live experiences, done remotely / virtually, by the musicians and DJs in demand around the world. Imagine the venue, the intense sound, the magic visual experience, the crowd-feel, the CONNECTION between fans and the artist, only the artist is never in the building, but on the giant screens already used at most high-profile live shows.

Experiences currently unlikely to ever happen. Artists have limited resources with regards to travelling and touring, which leaves fans in many territories waiting for long years or forever. While it may appear to be all lights and glitter, touring life is actually exhausting both physically and
mentally.

For fans this is no ordinary pain. While they mostly listen to their music free ever since the mp3 and streaming revolutions, many of them would pay and even go to great lengths for a live performance of their favorite artists, as it’s the best way to experience and LIVE the music that touches their hearts, minds and souls.

It’s a great pain for millions of fans. And a huge lost opportunity for artists, especially as they already make more than 90% of their income through live performances. Essentially loss-loss for all concerned.

The viLive solution involves a delivery system (dedicated internet connections on both ends, a proprietary full-duplex secure connection between artist and venue, full stage setups both for artist and venue, at highest live industry standards), a marketplace for biddings and transactions between event organizers and artists, and a social network of fans expressing their musical identity and generating demand for gigs in their territory.

This means standard-great live experiences, with viLive facilitating the transaction and delivery between artist and concert promoter, with assistance from production partners in each territory we’re servicing. All for the benefit of fans, who also get a tool to express their fan-hood while feeding artists and promoters with data to inform opportunities for future gigs. For the benefit of artists too, which get a significant new revenue stream from virtual live, besides regular touring, where they get to monetize more territories with live without the hassle of touring.

I am a passionate programmer that interned at Google Summer of Code in 2011 and 2012 where I was first introduced to the Android world and became aware of the mobile’s powerful potential. I worked for Nokia in 2011 on a chat client and an internal tool for project management. Working for Nokia cultivated my entrepreneurship appetite and started to consider developing my own business. As I become more interested in the startups area I started working with UberVU, a B2B Romanian startup that offers insightful market information to various brands. UberVU was acquired by Hootsuite in 2014.
In 2015 I received the Anita Borg Scholarship from Google for technical and leadership excellence.

I graduated from Computer Science in Babes-Bolyai University as a Valedictorian. My Bachelor thesis addressed Machine Learning and Robotics. I built a robot out of an iRobot body and a Lego NXT arm that would wipe the dust on a plain surface and detect obstacle objects in its way. I also followed a Master’s Degree in Distributed Systems and for the Master’s Thesis I built an mobile application that recognised people in a database and delivered information about them in an augmented reality interface. I eventually ported the application on Google Glasses and turned it into a tool that can be used by tech companies to ramp up new employees.

I am creative and restless in my professional journey and I am constantly trying to use technology to solve real life problems. Having a passion for the fashion industry and jewellery in particular, I bought a 3D printer and assembled it myself to be able to print custom models of my own earrings.

I am currently working on my startup, Catwalk15, a fashion platform for instant fashion advice and style inspiration. I am in charge of the technology, I built the Android and the IOS applications, I am driving the product development, manage the team and act as a swiss army knife wherever I can contribute.

I love jazz and singing, literature and longboarding and I am a keen feminist, working to make women more confident in their leadership and creative powers.

My life dream is to use technology to revolutionise education, starting from Romania and expending to the world. I am a strong believer that if you give a person a fish you feed him for a day, but if you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.

Spherik Accelerator, which is an startup accelerator from the city of Cluj-Napoca (Romania), had its Demo Days on May 16. 11 presentations were made and over 100 participants attended at this first edition.
Spherik Accelerator is a rigorous 4-month program taking place in Cluj-Napoca that helps carefully selected teams of tech innovators develop and strengthen the necessary set of skills to develop a business.

Jennifer Austin, the coordinator of Spherik, shares her reflections about the Demo Days 2015.

But before that, please take a look at the team pitches.

**********************

Demo Day 2015, Spherik’s inaugural Demo Day, marked an important milestone not only for our teams, but for Spherik. Bringing together more than 100 people, from business and tech executives, entrepreneurs, investors, community members, and more, the day was a testament to what is possible with hard work, dedication, and risk taking. I am especially proud of all our teams, who pitched their start-ups exceptionally well, and our mentors, who helped us come so far.

Jennifer Austin

But finally, a Demo Day is merely a milestone–a the time to bring together the people who have helped the teams get this far, as well as those who can help them go further. After Demo Day, things don’t end—we will be working hard to bring more opportunities to the teams. The teams are already right back to work preparing documents to send to regional and international players who could not come, but are eager to see what they’ve got.

The day was as much a celebration of our teams and our mentors as a statement about our vision for Spherik.

With thought-provoking presentations from Irina Albu, Executive Director of Tech Angels; Mary Andronic co-founder of Venture Connect; Dan Sturza from Friboburg Capital; and Leontin Toderici, COO of Banca Transilvania, we sought to provide value not just for our teams, but also for our mentors, supporters, and community. Each time a mentor comes to us, we want them to find value—by meeting eager and hardworking teams, meeting interesting people and networking, and by learning through teaching. This is what we want to create here—a community of value created by sharing not only hard work (and trust us, both the teams and mentors have been working hard) but also sharing opportunities and sharing success.

What does sharing success mean? It means focusing on what we can build together—which I believe is quite a lot. It means thinking about how you can share your opportunities and resources, rather than worrying that by doing so you will lose. It also means sharing the hard and grunt work.

Demo Day was a fantastic event showcasing the teams, complete with fancy wine and much applause. But the work leading up to it was often difficult, painful, and unglamorous. For a week in a row our teams, staff, and mentors didn’t leave Spherik before midnight—the record being 03:30. Over the course of the program the teams suffered blunt criticism, hard questions, and harsh assessments in order to grow and improve. We all know how hard it is to receive criticism—but what about giving it? It would have been easier for the mentors to give weak platitudes and praises to avoid the hard work of critical assessment and risk and pain that comes with upsetting people.
